Located in the bustling Queen West district of downtown Toronto, Oyster Boy is the source of the nation’s finest oysters and home of one of the city’s most popular seafood restaurants. Regular shipments of our oysters arrive directly from the harvesters on both coast. They are then served raw or cooked in the restaurant, or distributed through our wholesale and catering divisions.
Under our motto “Mollusks for the Masses” Oyster Boy is dedicated to delivering a delicious seafood experience to everyone. In addition to oysters and other shellfish the restaurant presents a variety of finfish, salads, a great steak frites and house made desserts. Our beer selection includes a variety of local craft brews and the wine list offers classic whites and reds as well as many Ontario favourites.

Oyster Boy offers wholesale delivery Monday through Saturday to restaurants, hotels and caterers throughout the GTA. We deal directly with women and men who harvest from sustainable sources on both coasts of Canada. People who fish, pack and ship oysters from what we believe to be the finest oyster producing regions in the country. Most of the varieties have a seasonal variations and we offer reliable information on the quality and availability of the different oysters.
Oyster Boy catering mostly involves serving freshly shucked oysters at big or small gatherings, weddings, festivals and corporate events. Our expert shuckers working over a selection of the seasons finest oysters with a full range of delicious condiments create the ideal oyster presentation. In what has become a Toronto tradition the Oyster Boy oyster bar is as good as it gets.
We have years of experience presenting oysters alongside many of Toronto’s foremost caterers and in many of the cities finest hotels and event spaces. A variety of flexible set ups include intimate formal presentations to large, more rugged options. But no matter what the tone the oysters are always the star and guests can expect a truly delightful experience.
In addition to freshly shucked oysters we also offer a lovely jumbo shrimp bowl and smoked fish canapes. With a little more room we can add a charcuterie sideboard with prepared meats, select cheeses and pickles served with artisanal breads.
Outdoor lobster boils are another specialty and come with all the fixings associated with the down east tradition. Fresh lobsters cooked on the spot served with corn on the cob, potato salad, coleslaw and country rolls. It’s the real McCoy.
We sell fresh, whole oysters by the piece or by the box. Prices vary according to variety and size.
For unshucked oysters, there’s no need to call ahead. Just drop by during regular business hours and our well informed staff will help you make a selection from the product available. If you require your oysters to be shucked, please note that there is a maximum of 48 pieces, and they must be ordered before 6:30 p.m.
A full selection of oyster knives, boards and condiments are also available to purchase. There is also a selection of Oyster Boy paraphernalia including custom shirts by designer and super shucker Tyler Shearer.
Oyster Boy offers an entertaining and informative two hour program that teaches everything you have to know about buying, shucking and presenting oysters.
An expert oyster shucker will lecture for the first hour on subjects such as; how oysters are grown, how they breed, the life cycle of an oyster, and seasonal variations. In the second hour of Shuck U the professor and assistant will demonstrate how to properly shuck and present an oyster. Students are given 18 oysters and their very own oyster shucking knife and then start practising!
Anyone may sign up for Shuck U; individuals, couples, threesomes! We conduct classes of up to 12 students at a cost of $55 per person on weekend afternoons from 12 noon to 2 pm.
Shuck U is in session all year long. We do take a break from mid March to mid May (spring is truly the cruelest time for oysters), and another from mid July to mid September (breeding time for Canadian oysters). Please email Professor Adam for available dates.
